Rats RankingsOn the eve of the start of the NFL season, we decided to offer up our Week One power rankings. Most of our writers contributed to this week’s poll, and I think it is a pretty accurate assessment of where teams stand going into the season. Unlike many years, the idea of a defending champion carrying the first week’s poll have evaporated, as none of our seven contributors pegged the Baltimore Ravens first, or even in the top five. I guess none of us are thinking that banking on Joe Flacco, absent the other key parts of last season’s team, was a very good idea. So here is our ranking of the thirty-two teams headed into the new season. First place votes are in parentheses.

1. San Francisco 49ers (2)
